Emily thrives on giving her clients a voice. An attorney with high regard for emotional intelligence, she decided to pursue a legal degree as a psychology undergraduate. Emily’s keen desire to help people through their most vulnerable moments in life led to the realization that, as a lawyer, she could provide one-on-one attention to her clients and advocate for them in court when they needed it most. Having grown up surrounded by the justice system with her parents serving as a judge and a CPS attorney, Emily was compelled by the long-term impact that proper legal representation could have on a person’s life.  

This awareness inspired her to pursue a juris doctorate at Texas Tech Law School. During her graduate studies, Emily sought to get involved in her community in her spare time. She worked in the Family Law and Housing Clinic and was also an article editor of the Estate Planning and Community Property Law Journal.

She was admitted to the Texas State Bar in October 2023. Before joining The Carlson Law Firm’s team of committed attorneys, she worked at another Texas law firm handling family law and was on the court-appointed CPS docket. Emily also has experience working with probate and civil cases.  

Emily’s practice focuses entirely on family law. Clients navigating family law will find a compassionate and determined advocate in Emily. She is intent on ensuring her clients are informed about case developments and have the legal advice and accompaniment they need to make complicated legal decisions. Her effective case review allows her to find new and compelling arguments for the judge, with the goal of getting the best outcome possible for her clients. She will always come prepared with the necessary research to make a compelling argument to the judge. Emily is proud to serve her community and fight for those who need it. 

Emily’s duty to the legal community is reflected through her membership in several prestigious organizations, including the State Bar of Texas, the Austin Bar Association, and the Austin Young Lawyers Association. Nonetheless, the core motivation that drives Emily’s legal practice remains finding creative and fair solutions to resolve families’ conflicts that will allow them to confidently move on to the next chapter of their lives. 

Emily loves to spend her spare time exploring the vibrant cities of Central Texas, trying out new restaurants, and enjoying the picturesque nature nearby. Since moving to the area with her partner, Alejandro, and their cats, Arthur and Kong, she’s been impressed by the community’s warmth and the region’s natural beauty.
