KILLEEN, TX — The threat of rain didn’t stop the community from showing up to The Carlson Law Firm’s Carlson Cares Día del Niño Celebration or Children’s Day Celebration on Saturday, April 20. More than 450 people from Killeen and the surrounding communities joined The Carlson Law Firm staff for a fun Saturday afternoon.
The smiles were plenty from kids of all ages as they enjoyed several activities, including games where prizes ranging from snacks to fun games could be won. In addition, every 3 minutes, the firm gave away a prize, including bikes, character backpacks, small toys and more.
Children at the event also had the opportunity to enhance their soccer skills by playing a quick match and learning ball handling from the Central Texas Coyotes, a local semi-professional soccer club.
Parents weren’t left out of the fun. The firm gave away two tickets to see Bad Bunny in Austin on April 27.
Addressing food insecurity is one of the primary missions The Carlson Law Firm focuses on across its 17 statewide locations through its Carlson Cares program. As such, the firm gave away 300 bags filled with healthy snacks to children in attendance.
“We call our events Party with a Purpose because everything we do for our community is about more than having a good time,” said Bilingual Marketing Manager Adriana Torres. “Our events are an opportunity to reach people and provide essential support to families, whether through providing an outlet for fun, food or meaningful family time.”
In addition to the snack bags, families could enjoy free treats from Toda Madre Cravings and their Botanas and Elote Bars.
“We love seeing the community come together and we love that our Parties with a Purpose have gotten so popular in Central Texas,” Managing Partner Craig Carlson said. “Our firm was founded on helping people no matter what they’re going through. If this event helped a child have a healthy meal or snack, brought a smile to their face, or maybe even provided the exposure needed to be the catalyst for a future soccer star, we succeeded in what we set out to do every time we plan a Party With a Purpose.”
Día del Niño or Children’s Day in English, is a heartwarming holiday that originated in Mexico in 1925, where it was established to commemorate the importance of children and promote their well-being. In 1996, organizations began promoting the celebration in the United States. Día del Niño is now a nationwide celebration that brings together people to celebrate the gift that children are to our society.
