The Carlson Law Firm to Host Blood Drive After Holiday Season

KILLEEN, Texas — The winter months are an especially difficult time for blood donation collection. Often inclement weather, seasonal illnesses and the holidays can prevent donors from making and keeping appointments. Blood donations are needed year-round, but there is a higher demand for blood donations during and immediately after the holiday season.

The Carlson Law Firm is keeping up with its yearly tradition of hosting a January blood drive to help local blood banks increase their supply. On Jan. 12, from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., the firm will welcome the Baylor Scott & White mobile collection unit in the parking lot of their Killeen office, located at 100 E Central TX Expy.

“During the holiday season, people are driving on the roads a lot,” Managing Partner Craig Carlson said. “Because of this, we see a significant uptick in the number of people who need medical attention, often blood, to help their recovery. Many car accident victims or, if they’re incapacitated, their loved ones come to us for legal help after a crash. We want to do everything we can to help our clients. Hosting this blood drive twice a year is just one part of how we serve our clients and our community.”

The need for blood extends beyond traumatic injury victims. Cancer patients, labor and delivery complications and other medical concerns are always present.

“We’re asking the community to come out and help us reach our collection goal of 25 units,” said Chief Operating Officer Lisa Griffin. “Giving the gift of life is an amazing way to start off the new year.”

The firm will provide donuts for morning donors, and afternoon donors will get pizza.
