TEMPLE, TX — Bell County health officials announced a Temple nursing home has 27 confirmed COVID-19 cases and one death. A woman in her 90s became the fourth Bell County fatality.
Health officials announced that 18 residents and nine staff members at Weston Inn Nursing and Rehabilitation tested positive for the virus.
Staff who were affected are currently isolating at home.
According to a news report, all residents and staff members were initially tested for coronavirus on May 16. However, those results came back negative.
On Friday, however, a new case surfaced in the facility. Operators contacted the Bell County Public Health District to arrange another round of testing.
According to Bell County Health District Directo Amanda Robison-Chadwell, at least five cases were among individuals that are at high risk due to age and other health conditions.
As of June 1, Bell County reported 367 confirmed COVID-19 cases.
