Law Firm offers Uber Voucher to San Antonio community for New Year’s celebration

SAN ANTONIO — To ring in the New Year safely, a nationally recognized personal injury law firm, The Carlson Law Firm, is offering a code with Uber to discount $10 off any ride in San Antonio this upcoming new year’s celebration. The code can be redeemed from Dec. 31 starting at  6 p.m. to  Jan. 1 at 6 a.m. for anyone in the San Antonio area in need of a safe ride.

San Antonio has a national reputation for knowing how to ring in the new year. In fact, thousands of party-goers flock to the city each year to get in on the Alamo City celebrations. With this influx of people, San Antonio traffic is expected to increase in the days around the New Year celebration.

According to a study done in 2017 by the National Transportation Traffic Safety Administration, New Year’s is one of the deadliest nights on our nation’s roads, with Texas ranked seventh among the top ten states with the most drunk-driving deaths in 2018. 

“The city seems to be overwhelmed with holiday traffic, and it may be in everyone’s best interest to simply carpool or take a rideshare service during the holiday season,” said Elizondo. “Although drinking and driving may not be the only factor to increase fatal crashes during the holiday periods, it is one that can be prevented by using a rideshare service.”

Studies show using ride-sharing services can lead to a decrease in drunk driving crashes. According to The Texas Department of Transportation, drivers charged with a third offense can face up to $10,000 in fines, have their license suspended, and can face between two to ten years in prison. 

In addition, a study done in 2020 by value penguin found that the five deadliest roads for Thanksgiving and Christmas travel include I-35 and I-10, two of the biggest highways passing through San Antonio. With the increase of traffic and people coming into the city, it is anticipated that roads will be packed this holiday season. 

The Uber tripcode will discount $10 on any ride within San Antonio. Any remaining balance must be paid by the consumer.  The credit will not include tips and patrons will have to cover the remaining balance.
